"A FRIENDLY RUNNING CLUB THAT WELCOMES ATHLETES OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES"

The new Series of the Street 5km race started on Wednesday October 10th .it was race number 139 in a sequence going back over 23 and a bit years! There were also 1km and 2km races on the night for juniors - recommended ages were School Years 5 & 6 for 1km and Years 7 & 8 fior 2km. We also have news on how to apply for the Club's London Marathon entries.

The Street races continue on the 2nd Wednesday of every month through to March 2013. The course consists of 5 laps with lap times shouted or displayed after every lap. Race Director this year is Ed Tickner and either he or Ian Eddy would be pleased to hear from you if you can volunteer to marshal or help on the evening. Harriers note that these races are the only Club organised ones and they help boost Club funds - all other local races we assist local organising committees for good causes.

LONDON MARATHON ENTRIES

It is anticipated that the Club will receive three entries for next year's London Marathon. The rules for applying for one of the Club entries are:

a) you were a Club member when you entered the main ballot, and your membership is up to date

b) you have been rejected in the main LM ballot and can provide evidence of the rejection

c) you are committed to training for the event in 2013.

CHANGE: it was originally  intended that the draw for the Harrier places would be be made at the Street 5k race held on November 14th 2012 but we have realised this is too close to the deadline for applying as the athletes have only until Nov 16th to register with London Marathon.Instead the draw will now take place at the track on Tuesday Nov 6th 6.30pm. To date (Oct 23rd) 4 Harriers have indicated they can satisgfy the criteria above and will go in to the ballot for the 3 places.
