"A FRIENDLY RUNNING CLUB THAT WELCOMES ATHLETES OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES"

The 139th edition of the Street 5k races took place this week (Wed Oct 10th) and a friendly group of just under a 100 runners turned up to try their luck on the 5 lapper. For some it was their very first time at Street, in fact their very first time racing (!), for others there may well have been some running the course for the 100th time or more. Please let us know if you think that is the case and we'll celebrate with you!

Conditions were good but for some, even the experienced ones, it was a case of re-acquainting ourselves with racing in the dark, and avoiding the obstacles that street races throw up at us. For all that, Kieran Young started off again as he left off last year. With no older brother to pace or follow him, he ran a great race for a time of 16.25. Then came our Marathon man of 2011 who one day will collect his engraved glass prize, Tim Hawkins (1st V40) with 17.12. We then saw a great squad of other youngsters in the next batch covering positions 3 to 6, with Phillip Bridge winning out and hard on the heels of Tim.

First home for the ladies was junior Charlotte Baker in 19.32, with Liz Wiggins next 20.01 and Lucy Baldwin home in 20.08. 1st V50 was David Hunt (19.47); 1st V60 John Cox in 22.30; and 1st V70, the evergreen David German in 33.30; 1st F45 was Charlie Spencer (22.57); 1st F55 Leslie Nisbett (23.56).

Full 5km results are in the box to the right, and also results for the junior races of 1km (winners William Carr & Rachel Packard) and 2km (winners Alex Williams & Connie Little) will be when available.

New race Director Ed Tickner was pleased with the turn out and encourages all to come back next month. Enquiries/correction on results to Ed 01749 812449. Next race is on Wednesday Nov 14th.Keep your race number. See you then.
