Wells City Harriers

"A FRIENDLY RUNNING CLUB THAT WELCOMES ATHLETES OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES"

The Harrier's Nathan Young scorched to victory on the 5 lapper this month in a nippy time of 15.31. He led home the 92 finishers in excellent racing conditions: cool and still. Team-mate Emily Smith won for the women in a personal best of 18.38. In the accompanying 1km race Rachel Packard and William Carr won again; with Alex Williams and Connie Litlle also triumphing over 2km for the second month in sucession. Full results on the right. Next month will see Mince Pies for all that race - December 12th.

Nathan's brother and last year's outright Series winner, Kieran Young (Bristol & West), was 2nd in 16.17 with a host of good performances by Harriers some 30 seconds or so back: 3rd Sam Bedford 16.49; 4th Philip Bridge 17.09; and 5th was one of the club's London marathon bound athletes Paul Maskell in 17.23, just holding off top V40 Mike Pearce (Crewkerne) and 1st V50 Gary Eagle (Bristol & West).

There were 32 Harriers amongst the entire field with many picking up personal bests including Felix Rusby in 18.11 and James Williams in 18.17. 2nd female home was Harrier Charlotte Baker 18.27; and 3rd was team-mate Lucy Baldwin in 20.59.

1st F35 was Rachel Hayton of Yeovil Town RR; and 1st F45 Charlie Spencer (Maiden Newton Runners). 1st F55 was Liz Martin of Langport Runners. 1st M60 was a nippy Tom Burgess (Bristol & West) and 1st M70 was the evergreen Brian Clark (Langport) in 25.48.
