Wells City Harriers

"A FRIENDLY RUNNING CLUB THAT WELCOMES ATHLETES OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES"

Wells City Harriers Juniors were out in force on Saturday 17th March to compete

for Somerset in the culmination of the English Schools cross country season.

This year the prestigious National Finals were held at the spectacular setting of

Temple Newsam Park in Leeds on an undulating course saturated by recent rain

and snow falls. Sub zero temperatures and a biting easterly wind greeted the

300 + runners in each of the three age groups for both boys and girls. Some of

the races started in a blizzard although great encouragement for the athletes

was shown by the thousands of spectators who came along to watch. Some

excellent performances on the day by all of the talented athletes from Wells City

Harriers who had progressed through three qualifying rounds starting in

December with their reward being a place on the start line. Finishing positions as

follows: Junior Boys–Jake Fisher 169, Toby Watson 170, Daniel Maydew 214,

Junior Girls–Hannah Blundy 143, Intermediate Boys–new recruit Charlie Cook

Bigger 181, Jessica Hudson 259, Senior Boys –Ben Lloyd 50, Dylan Dukes 183,
