Wells City Harrier Jon James won the M55 1500m Gold Medal at the British Masters Championships held this past weekend (August 10th & 11th) at Birmingham. He won convincingly, despite the strong gusts of wind, with a 7 second gap on the pack chasing him all the way from start to finish. Meanwhile Helen Southcott, at the same Championships came away with Silver and Bronze, when taking her 2nd place in the W40 800m in 2.31 (pb) after a 3rd place showing in the 1500m with 5.07. Congratulations to both! A strong squad of 14 Harriers toed the start line at the latest in the Somerset Series races, sponsored by Cornwall Glass, and we await a report on recent track & field performances from the SW League. Note that Tuesday training is now taking place across the road from the track whilst the track and surrounds are OUT of BOUNDS!
